736 million dollars for an embassy

The US is spending 736 million dollars on a new embassy in Pakistan. That is 6% of the nominal GNP of Afghanistan.

There must be some kickbacks, corrruption, and spending money for spending money's sake going on. The embassy in Iraq cost as much.

I bet each could have easily been done for less than 30 million.
