Majority of Eastern germans feel that life was better under communism

According to an article in Der Spiegel a "Majority of Eastern Germans Feel Life Better under Communism". I am curious how that is in other former communist countries.

This probably fits in with those who think that Germany was better off as a Nazi state. However, those people have mostly died off. But from the poll, there are still those who somehow think that the brutal fascist past was a golden age of somekind.

If they visited North Korea, they might change their mind.

I tend to look at it from the economic point of view:
It is a fact that until the last year of the war Germany was very prosperous. It was at the expense of other countries. Many men had to serve as soldier and they sometimes died. But even as a soldier: if you kept away from the Eastfront life was usually quite well. Also you had to be blind to the injustice done to Jews, communists, Slavs and others. But there are enough people who are so focused on their own family and problems that they are able to ignore that.
